Land Blessings
An ongoing series celebrating the land I live on in its beauty, abundance, and grief.
Limiting Beliefs Series
Each of the artworks in the Limiting Belief Series is a snapshot of my process of grappling with my shadow self and its long-held truths. In the spirit of not abandoning any parts, each of these artworks asks: having explored the ways in which these beliefs are unhelpful, what is the next step that feels true? If I remove the desire for comfortable stagnancy or the lure of toxic positivity, where does honest hope take me? And from that place, what would I like to believe?
Grief Series
“grieve. so that you can be free to feel something else. – Nayyirah Waheed
I consider grief to be the truest emotion. My whole life, it has been my teacher and guide, my companion in the darkest and loneliest moments, a friend that reminds me of what I feel and what is so important that it makes life worth the pain of being. My grief speaks in color, in the feeling of raindrops on a windowpane merging and falling, in the splatter when they fall. This art reaches out to you through time and space, looking for a kindred spirit. Do you feel what I feel? Can you hold all this beauty too, knowing you will lose it? Are you brave enough to love it anyway, with audacity?
Alignment Series
This series was born from my discomfort with the word “alignment” – a word that has been co-oped by chiropractors and communicates that people prefer to keep in the light and out of the shadow. These are foreigners in my inner landscape, but I made this series to welcome them into my practice and to figure out how this word could truly resonate for me. It turns out that, for me, alignment is about allies. It’s about working with the current rather than against it – the currents of my physical body, of my creative connection with the universe, and of the beauty that feeds my soul.
Other Works
These artworks were created outside of a series, for pure joy.
